Raph & Alex

“We want camp and colour and joy.”

Vaucluse House Wedding - feat in Vogue

You know what’s in vogue?

Moments of uninhibited intimacy. Chosen family. Celebrating all the love in your lives. Bracing your partner 2 handed mid ceremony to help them get through it. Putting as much care and intention and effort into gifts for your friends as for your partner. Mixing pussy bows and cowboy boots (…admittedly not everyone can pull this off).

I think the biggest theme this day was the concept of chosen family. Not because regular families aren’t enough, but because sometimes if you are lucky enough you find not just one person but a swathe of people that feel like home, that feel like belonging, that maybe you can risk being your beautiful, irritable, joyous, frustrated human real self with - and they will love you with reckless abandon anyway.

And so, yes, they celebrated them. They celebrated their story as it has been told thus far, and made promises to continue telling it, together. But they also celebrated the village that got them here. That keeps them here. That surrounds and lifts and buoys them.

Raph and Alex. Surrounded by their chosen families. A day full of camp and colour and an obscene amount of heart. A masterclass in doing it your own way, with some sprinkles of 35mm and medium format film.
